I cut my teeth in photography on black-and-white, learning darkroom techniques, and learning to see tonality, over color. I loved it, but admit that when color came along, it seduced me, and slides further seduced me as I could spend more time outdoors making pictures rather than hours in the darkroom processing them. But in time, I found my way back to seeing in black and white, and I’m really enjoying it again. Color seduces the eye, whereas in black and white, your composition cannot hide behind color distractions.
