Bears of Lake Clark, Alaska

August 13-19, 2017

ONE SPACE LEFT!(as of 03/11/2017)

My previous summer photo workshop was an incredible experience! We had bears so close you could hear them chewing, and we were not afraid! I have been in a lot of wilderness areas photographing wildlife, and have never been this close. The bears have coexisted alongside people in this park for so long, and each generation is imprinted with no concern for what we as humans are doing. So we can get very close. There are no restrictions on how close you can get, so it’s all based on common sense for general safety and the keen perception of the naturalist guide, who is with us at all times. The bears go about their daily activity without concern for us – nursing, grazing, clamming – and lots of other interactions between bears.

This year’s trip is timed for a salmon run, so we’ll have opportunities to photograph fishing bears, too. Join me and have an experience you will never forget! There really is no other place like it.

I’ve scheduled enough days on this trip to include, weather permitting, a boat trip out to photograph a puffin colony of nesting and feeding birds. We’ve also seen a sea otter and other sea birds, on previous trips.

You won’t want to miss this one!

Price: $5100. Single occupancy may be available but we won’t know until it gets closer to the departure date. If it is available, the supplement will be $600.

Price Includes:

Round trip airfare from Anchorage to the lodge, 5 nights lodging, and all meals, services of a bear guide, ground transportation (ATV’s pulling trailer carts) while at the lodge, boat charter to the island rookery, all services tips to the guide and lodge staff, and the instruction and helpful guidance of a pro nature photographer (me). I’m there to help you make your best pictures of these bears!

Not included: transportation to Anchorage, Alaska; food/lodging on the night before (August 13) our flight to the lodge (August 14) , and the evening we return to Anchorage (August 19). I recommend staying over that night because weather can cause delays leaving the lodge, and you won’t want to miss your flights. If you decide you want to take the risk of leaving same day, please book your flight as late in that day as possible. We typically leave the lodge around 10 AM and return to Anchorage by noon.

Deposit: $1300 will hold your space, $800 of which is non-refundable, but if we can fill your space, you’ll receive some money back.  If you need to cancel, please view our payment and refund policies below.
